7 years ago a young man with Down's Syndrome set himself a big goal. He had started training in a traditional Japanese martial art as part of his life development program. He told the instructor that he wanted a black belt just like him.
In his wisdom the instructor placed a black belt in a draw and the young man visited that belt every month, reaffirming his goal. This martial art Shinto Muso Ryu Jo involves weapons and therefore considerable precision of movement and expert timing.
The grading was conducted using Japanese commands, and involved demonstrating a big range of complex movements. This club does not give a black belt to anyone who has not totally earned it.
Last week this amazing young man graded successfully to black belt. It made me wonder just what can be achieved if only we don't give up on our dreams. If we persist and never quit.

What do you think of when you hear the word diet, or exercise or healthy food or tax.
Diet to most people means deprivation and hunger.
Exercise to many means sweat, effort and pain
Healthy eating is often put down as boring, no fun and having to eat like like a rabbit.
Tax is an imposition by the government.
What if you changed your thinking. What if the word diet was changed to feeling great.
What if exercise was now boosting my energy
If Healthy eating was now regular day to day eating& the rest were treats.
What if you love tax because it means you are earning a good living. What if you decided you would like to pay twice as much tax, which means earning twice as much.
The way we approach things in our lives depends on the meaning we attach to it. Change the meaning and we change the experience.

Hi, going the extra mile is an old sales cliche, but it can really make a huge difference. Napoleon Hill suggests that we should render a better service and give more. The effect is like compounding interest.
Think of it as sowing the seeds for your future. Sure you will get customers or clients who are a complete pain in the *#* but you don't know what is happening in their life and the few moments of pleasant exchange and great service could be enough to rescue their day. They will remember this.
Some of the most surprising feedback I have received in business came from people whose life I affected positively without being consciously aware of it. A small helpful comment or a brief assistance. Yesterday in the shopping center car park a woman asked if I could return her trolly as she had a painful knee. Of course I helped her, I was going that way, anyway.
But we both live in this community and I try to maintain some profile for my business. a simple kind action on my part could create a new client. I don't suggest that we help people just for some future return, but rather we develop a natural friendly helpful response.

Yesterday I sat glued to my television to watch 16 year old Jessica Watson sail in Sydney harbour to become the youngest person ever to sail around the world.
Our prime minister greeted her at the Sydney opera house and referred to her as our newest hero. In her reply she corrected our leader saying that she wasn't a hero, and that you don't have to be special to to achieve great things, just have a dream and work hard to achieve it.
She achieved so much and overcame so many difficulties but never gave up. If a young girl can do this then we all can. What would you like to achieve?
Have a great day

Hi readers. I was having a conversation with a friend recently. He is big on self improvement, you could say obsessed. His big thing is clearing all his past stresses.
After listening for awhile I concluded that his game was playing with esoteric techniques, not moving forward in his life.I challenged him to just focus on the present and to put his attention of feelings of gratitude and appreciation.
To ask only how he could act better in the here and now. Later that day I spoke to him again and he told me how he had found some more old issues to resolve.
Well I thought i should walk my talk. So the next day on my morning walk I left my ipod at home and as I walked I thought only about the things that I am grateful for in my life.
For starters more people said hello, I assume I just looked happy, and secondly I felt great. When every negative thought came up I looked for something good in it.
Last week a friend's husband was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 mths to live.I thought as I walked, what's good about that, then I realized he has 6 mths, not 6 days, I also realised that I can play a small part in helping him to have the best quality of life, and I can help here to manage this huge stress.
Sometimes the upside may be had to find, but I guarantee that it is well worth seeking that point of gratitude, because the only other option is increased stress and upset.
Keep grateful and smiling.

Hi there. Some time ago I wrote an article and published it over at ezine articles on the link between arthritis and sugar, to my surprise with nearly 15,000 views of my articles this one remains the all time most popular and the most popular on a monthly basis.
I think that many of who consume a lot of sugar know that it isn't good for us, but we are not exactly sure what the problem.
I know for certain having worked with clients for years that sugar affects joint and muscle pain, skin problems and of course type 2 diabetes. The best way for you to find out is too stop the added sugar and sugar snacks.
You may need some help from a practitioner who uses EFT or NLP. these techniques can quickly help you overcome any food craving.

Hi . Today I'm not exactly addressing a major world issue, but it is of some importance to me. A few days ago i decided to give up sugar and sugary foods.
The biggest impact for me is coffee. I like my coffee strong and sweet. And like many people I link my coffee times to relaxation. My favorite coffee is at 5.30am in a cafe by the beach. I read the financial times then go for a nice long walk by the ocean.Back home at at 7am to drag my son out of bed to get ready for school.
Without sugar my mornings aren't quite as perfect. I'm using some NLP techniques to overcome my resistance and it is working quite well. I guess its all in the mind. I smell the coffee and I try to taste the natural sweetness of the brew.
It's kind of interesting how we form our habits, and what associations we have with food and drink. I know the world hasn't stopped turning because of me quitting sugar, and it makes me wonder how hard it must be to give up a serious addiction.
Have a great day
Cheers
Ian

The old saying states that if you don't believe in yourself how can you expect anyone else to.
It's all about faith. When you have your definite chief aim in place, it is time to spend a little time each day thinking about achieving your desired outcome. This will help you acquire the faith in yourself that you will achieve your goal.
Regular use of your imagination also helps you plot the path to success, by giving you insights to the steps you will need to take in order to reach your goal.
Take a strong stance, believe in yourself and avoid the naysayers.

When you are making plans or creating new ideas, having a few like minded people to bounce your ideas off is a great idea.
Napoleon hill called it the mastermind alliance. The purpose is for two or more people to work in harmony to create a common objective.
Do you know some people in person or online who you could communicate to share your ideas and get honest feedback? Also they can help you to move forward when you are feeling stuck.
It is said that the total energy and input of the group is greater than the sum of the parts of the individuals.
So maybe you can find friends who will help and who in return you can help and you can all benefit.

Many years ago the Pritikin diet was in vogue. It involved plenty of vegetables and small amounts of meat, grains, dairy and fruit. While it attracted its fair share of critics it was and still is an excellent program to lower cholesterol and improve cardiovascular health.
I got to thinking about this with some clients today. Such a diet is useful for a short time, and maybe even necessary at times. But in order to stay on any program for life it needs to be less difficult to sustain, and it needs to be something that allows you to feel like you are living a normal life.
If you feel forever that you are on a diet, then it won't be long before you have had enough. So the best way is an eating program which is makes sense. If you can't explain the rationale for your diet in a couple of simple sentences then its too hard.
If you explain your diet and your friends eyes glaze over, that's also too hard. The response you need is " Wow that sounds easy and it makes good sense"
